Down load our Press Release: Green Initiatives
Southwest Sign Group has designed, manufactured and installed one of the first 100 percent solar-poweredsigns in San Antonio. The sign, located at the Quarry Golf Course and Restaurant, represents a newinnovation for future sign construction, Southwest officials say. The sign is constructed as a “reverse channel letter/halo,” lit with Gelcore LED.
Under the direction of Project Manager Justin Brister and his team, Southwest tested and developed prototypes engineered logistically to configure enough power to light the sign for five hours a night, seven days a week.
Chad Jones, president of Southwest Signs, conveyed to Quarry representatives the ability of the sign to reduce power consumption costs, as well as have a positive environmental impact.
Operations Officer Sheila Morris acknowledged, “This is only one of our many projects currently in the works designed to save our environment.”
The company teamed with the Underwriter’s Laboratories in developing the first Green Certification Program in the sign industry.
At its own headquarters and manufacturing plant in San Antonio, Southwest has implemented recycling programs. Up to 80 percent of material used on its projects is either recycled or able to be recycled.
Southwest Sign Group is a full spectrum sign manufacturing company which manages national, local, hospitality and customer accounts.
